Frequently Asked Questions
Kimber 45 for sale
Is a Kimber 45 a good gun?
Kimber 1911s earn solid marks for trigger quality and accuracy. Models range from carry pistols to competition guns, with prices typically $690–$1,800. Quality control draws mixed feedback across production runs. Reliability and resale value depend heavily on the specific model and intended use.
How much is a Kimber .45 pistol?
Kimber .45 pistols typically range from around $610 to $1,800+. Standard models commonly sell between $842 and $999, while competition and specialty variants can exceed $1,800. The average new price is around $1,271. We have numerous listings across this range on our marketplace.
Do kimbers jam a lot?
Kimber reliability varies by model and individual pistol. Some owners report stoppages during break-in or from limp-wristing, while many report trouble-free performance long-term. Quality control has been inconsistent across production runs, meaning some guns run flawlessly while others require gunsmith attention.
What is so special about a Kimber 1911?
Kimber 1911s combine modern precision manufacturing with Browning's classic design. Match-grade components and refined ergonomics deliver strong accuracy and trigger quality. Available in multiple calibers and sizes for competition, range, or defensive use. Prices typically run $690–$1,800 depending on configuration and features.
Will dry firing a 1911 damage it?
Dry firing a 1911 is generally safe and will not damage the firing pin. Unlike rimfire firearms, the 1911 handles dry firing without harm. Snap caps are an optional precaution but are not required. Most gunsmiths consider extended dry-fire sessions perfectly acceptable on a 1911.
What is the best ammo for a 1911?
For a 1911, 230-grain FMJ ball ammo is the most reliable choice, especially during break-in. Once function is confirmed, hollow points like Hornady Critical Defense or Federal HST work well for defense. Avoid steel-cased ammo and reloads when testing reliability.
What is the best compact 45 pistol?
"Best" depends on your priorities. Popular compact .45 options include the Glock 30S, Springfield XD-S, Kimber Ultra Carry, and Smith & Wesson M&P 45 Shield. Each varies in capacity, size, and price. Handle several before buying, as grip fit and trigger feel differ significantly between shooters.
What mags will fit a Kimber 1911?
Kimber 1911s accept magazines matching their caliber and frame size. Full-size .45 ACP models use standard 1911 single-stack mags. Factory Kimber 7- and 8-round magazines perform reliably, but 10-round extended magazines from any brand, including Chip McCormick, often cause failures to feed. Compact models require shorter magazines specific to that frame length.
