Frequently Asked Questions
Sig Sauer .357 Pistol for sale
Does SIG SAUER make a 357 SIG pistol?
Yes. SIG SAUER offers several .357 SIG pistols including the P226, P229, P239, and P320, spanning compact to full-size frames. The marketplace currently lists eight variants across 17 retailers, typically priced around $580, with most listings between $350–$1,200.
How much is a 357 SIG pistol?
.357 SIG pistols typically range from $500 to $1,000. New models average around $760, while used pistols average around $578. Glock and SIG SAUER are the most common manufacturers, offering compact and full-size models suited for carry or defense.
What is the best 357 SIG pistol?
"Best" depends on your needs. The SIG SAUER P226 excels for duty use, the P229 balances size and performance, and the P239 suits concealed carry. The Glock 31 and 32 offer reliable, budget-friendly options. Prices typically range from $350 to $1,200.
Is .357 SIG good for concealed carry?
Yes. .357 SIG delivers higher velocity and energy than 9mm, making it effective for self-defense. The SIG SAUER P229 is a strong concealed carry option in this caliber, though SIG and others have largely moved away from it. Tradeoffs include increased recoil and muzzle blast. Glock 32 offers a compact alternative.
Is .357 SIG stronger than 9mm?
.357 SIG fires a 9mm bullet at higher velocity, generating more muzzle energy and penetration than standard 9mm loads. However, it costs more, holds fewer rounds per magazine, and produces greater recoil. Modern 9mm +P ammunition narrows the performance gap considerably.
How much does .357 SIG ammo cost?
.357 SIG ammo typically costs $25–$40 per box of 50 rounds for standard loads, with premium defensive ammunition running higher. Bulk purchases lower the per-round cost. Common brands include Speer Lawman, Federal, and Sig Sauer. It is generally more expensive than 9mm but comparable to .40 S&W.
What is the best ammo for a 357 SIG?
For defensive use, Speer Gold Dot 125-grain JHP is widely regarded as the top choice. Sig Sauer V-Crown and Federal HST are solid alternatives. For practice, Speer Lawman offers reliable, affordable rounds. Your specific needs—concealed carry versus duty use—may influence which load works best for your pistol.
Is a 357 SIG a good gun?
.357 SIG is a cartridge, not a gun. Pistols chambered in .357 SIG, like the SIG P226 or Glock 31, offer high velocity and good stopping power. Drawbacks include expensive ammo and limited availability. It suits shooters wanting magnum-level performance in a semi-automatic pistol.
