Frequently Asked Questions
CZ 457 in .22 LR for sale
Is a CZ 457 any good?
The CZ 457 is widely regarded as one of the best production rimfire rifles available. It offers excellent accuracy, a crisp adjustable trigger, smooth bolt action, and solid build quality. Multiple variants suit different shooting styles. At around $650, it delivers strong value for both target shooting and small game hunting.
Is it ok to dry fire a CZ 457?
CZ's manual and tech support say not to dry fire without snap caps, though CZ also advertises the firing pin design as resistant to dry firing. Given this contradiction, snap caps are the safe choice. The firing pin is designed not to strike the breech, so snap caps provide reliable protection.
How to make CZ 457 more accurate?
Start with action screw torque using a torque wrench—this single adjustment often yields the biggest gains. Bolt shims tighten headspace affordably. Pillar bedding the action improves consistency. Test multiple rimfire ammunition lots, since velocity variation between batches significantly affects group size. Quality rests and proper cleaning technique matter too.
