Frequently Asked Questions
Grizzly .45-70 Ammo for Sale
What is the best 45-70 ammo for grizzly bears?
For grizzly defense, choose heavy hardcast or bonded bullets in the 400–430 grain range. Buffalo Bore Heavy 430gr hardcast and Underwood 400gr hardcast penetrate deeply enough to stop a charge. Federal Hammer Down 300gr bonded is a lighter alternative. Avoid hollow points, which may not penetrate sufficiently on large bears.

Grizzly Cartridge Company loads earn solid reviews for hunting. Users report good accuracy, consistency, and reliable performance on deer, hog, and bear. Recoil is sharp, as expected with 45-70. Typically around $60 per box, with six variants available from three retailers.
