Frequently Asked Questions
FN Scar 16s for sale

How much does a SCAR 16s cost?

SCAR 16S rifles typically cost around $3,399 on our marketplace, with most listings between $2,951 and $3,834. Current MSRP is $3,799. The rifle remains in production and available new across our 27 retailers, with 12 of 13 variants currently in stock.

Can a civilian own a SCAR?

Yes, civilians can own semi-automatic SCAR rifles in most U.S. states, but availability is now limited. FN America has completed its final production run of the civilian SCAR series, so new units are no longer being manufactured. Buyers must source existing inventory from retailers or the used market. Check local laws before purchasing.

Is the FN SCAR 16 accurate?

The SCAR 16 typically delivers 1–2 MOA with quality ammunition, producing 1–1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. It's accurate enough for its intended tactical role but not designed for precision shooting. Performance varies with ammunition selection and shooter skill.

What is SCAR nrch?

SCAR NRCH stands for Non-Reciprocating Charging Handle, an upgrade FN added to both the SCAR 16S and SCAR 17S. Dual ambidextrous handles mount on either side, fold up or down, and are user-swappable. Unlike the original handle, they do not move during firing, improving compatibility with optics and various shooting positions.

What is the difference between SCAR 16 and 17?

SCAR 16 fires 5.56×45mm NATO; SCAR 17 fires 7.62×51mm NATO (.308 Winchester). The 17 has a larger receiver, bolt carrier, and trigger module to accommodate the bigger cartridge. The 16 suits intermediate ranges while the 17 is preferred for longer distances and greater stopping power.

What magazine is compatible with the FN SCAR 16?

The FN SCAR 16S accepts its own proprietary FN magazines and standard STANAG-compatible magazines in 5.56×45mm NATO, including USGI and HK magazines. FN factory magazines offer the most reliable fit; some aftermarket STANAG magazines may have fitment issues depending on dimensional tolerances.
