This load (Item 13B) is designed for those who do not like the recoil and blast of our full power 480 Ruger loads, but still want a very usable "field" load for killing big game. Item 13B utilizes the same bullet as it's full power counterpart, item 13A, but instead of achieving 1300 fps, like item 13A, it achieves roughly 1000 fps, which reduces the recoil and muzzle blast by roughly half. Since this 370 grain hard cast, flat nosed bullet, does not expand on game animals at an impact velocity of 1300 fps, it won't at 1000 fps either and it will penetrate roughly 5 feet in living muscle and bone, even at the reduced 1000 fps. By moving this 370 grain bullet at 1000 fps instead of 1300 fps, the only disadvantage in killing big game will be that the impact of the flat nose will not be as dramatic as it would be at 1300 fps, nor will the creation of secondary projectiles from bone chards/fragments be as dramatic, but penetration of the two loads, making a .475 inches diameter hole, will be roughly the same.
